Bachelor of EngineeringThe basic requirements for a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering specify that a student needs to finish the curriculum of 139 semester hours which includes required 114 semester credits and 25 credits of elective courses.
Master of EngineeringA minimum of 30 graduate credits is required. Of these 30 credits, 6 are required for the thesis. A final oral examination is also mandatory.
Doctor of PhilosophyA minimum of 30 graduate credits, in addition to those taken for the master's degree program, is required. Included in these 30 credits are 6 required for the Ph.D. dissertation. Qualifying exams are given in the following areas: a) Thermo fluids: Convective Heat Transfer, Radiation Heat Transfer, Advanced Fluid Dynamics, and Advanced Thermodynamics. b) Solid Mechanics and Design: Elasticity, Advanced Mechanisms, CAD/CAM, Advanced Vibration, Experimental Stress Analysis, c) Control and Manufacturing: Digital Control, Optimal Estimation Theory, Optimal Control, System Dynamics, Linear System.
A student is advanced to Ph.D. candidacy after he or she has passed the written exams on Advanced Engineering Mathematics, two of the above courses taken in the major area, and one of the above courses taken in the minor area. Following Ph.D. candidacy, the students will focus on their dissertation work. A Ph.D. degree will be conferred upon the candidate after he or she has passed the final oral examination.
Since the 105 academic year, foreign graduate students are required to take Chinese language courses and pass the Chinese Language Proficiency Test (TOCFL) to obtain the basic level certificate, or through the school Chinese language examination, before graduation.
From 108 academic year on, 2 credits of general education are required for MA & PhD students.

Students Working on Master's Degrees: the maximum scholarship given is tuition and incidental fee waiver for two years; evaluation will be done each year by the student's department and research advisor to determine the student's qualification for the continuing year based on his or her academic performance.
Students Working on Ph.D. Degrees: the maximum scholarship given is tuition and incidental fee waiver and on-campus lodging fee waiver for four years; evaluation will be done each year by the student's department and research advisor to determine the student's qualification for the continuing year based on his or her academic and /or service performance.
Due to high competitiveness for the applicants, only qualified applicants will be granted for the stipend.
